Citadel Drilling Rig 1, aptly named “The Titan” by the crews, started its deployment into the field this past summer and spudded its first well on July 25th for Seven Generations Energy. This rig was outfitted with crews that had a combined 153 years of AC drilling rig experience, and they have been building a great culture onsite, demonstrating a proactive nature and a “get it done” attitude.
The start-up of rig 1 went very smoothly and drew compliments from both the trucking company and operator in terms of the efficient design for rig-up, and minimal downtime was realized during the entire period the well was being drilled.
By mid-September it was time to test out the integrated moving system to move from well to well. It was spectacular! With over 6000m of pipe in the derrick, the substructure moved effortlessly to the next well, saving Seven Generations countless hours and dollars in rig move costs. The Titan was spudding its second well shortly after the walk and showing continuous improvement – the surface hole was finished in less than half the time required to complete the surface hole of the first well. This is due to both the crews and the operator gaining an increased understanding of the capabilities of Citadel Drilling Rig 1, and it has continued to shave days off this second well in comparison to the first.
We would like to thank the crews for their continued support in ensuring that there are zero safety incidents on location, and also for their tireless efforts in making “The Titan” a first-class operation in the western Canadian sedimentary basin!
