Dan Hoffarth
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Hoffarth has come up through the ranks, starting his career as a Floorhand and working through all positions in a drilling contractor environment. Pre-Citadel, Mr. Hoffarth was VP Marketing for Nabors Drilling. Experienced in start-up, mid-size and large company environments in domestic and international roles, Mr. Hoffarth brings to the company a depth in management, construction, sales and operational capacities. He is a founding member of Citadel Drilling with over 31 years of experience in the drilling and service sector of the industry.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Zahn is a founding member of Citadel Drilling and brings a wealth of experience formulating and executing on financial and operating strategies. He has been VP Finance and CFO of seven public and private oil and gas service companies, most recently Palko Environmental and Century Frac Services. Mr. Zahn also spent 10 years with KPMG LLP as a senior manager, a role that afforded him a broad range of experience in corporate finance, tax and accounting activities.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Hoffman joined Citadel in April 2014 as a Drilling Superintendent and has 24 years of experience in the drilling industry. He started as Floorhand and worked through the ranks to Rig Manager prior to being promoted to Field Superintendent at Nabors Drilling. He has spent the past 18 years directly working with AC triple walking rigs using a wide variety of pad configurations in long-reach horizontal shale gas plays. Mr. Hoffman was promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer in December 2021 and is in charge of all operations for Citadel Drilling and Opla Energy.
Sr. Vice President, Finance
As Senior Vice-President, Finance, Doug Robinson’s strengths lie in implementing user-friendly finance and operating systems that work soundly. He has held Controller or Management positions with Wellco Energy Services, Peak Energy Services, Century Frac Services and Calfrac Well Services, where he was Manager of Financial and Business Systems for all countries in which Calfrac operated. Mr. Robinson brings over 22 years of experience strengthening finances in the oil and gas service industry.
Vice President, Business Development
With over 24 years of sales experience, the past 17 years directly in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Wicks focuses on marketing drilling rigs of various depth capacities while establishing professional relationships with his clients. Mr. Wicks' ability to create strong and lasting relationships is an asset to Citadel. Prior to joining Citadel, he was with Nabors Drilling where he sold AC and pad-style drilling rigs.
Human Resources Director
With over 24 years of senior HR experience both within North America and internationally, many of which were directly in the oil and gas industry, Ms. O'Brien has the proven leadership skills which make her a great fit and asset to the business. Her extensive experience in recruitment strategies, employee relations, training and development, performance management, employee engagement, talent and succession management have helped support her past employers, and these same strengths make her a welcome addition to our teams.
QHSE Director
Ms. Rocha joined Citadel Drilling on February 20, 2020 as the Sr. QHSE Manager. She has over 18 years of Safety experience in the Heavy Steel Manufacturing and Oil & Gas industries. Holding similar positions, she has earned different leadership roles at other oil and gas companies. Her most recent work experience was the HSE Director for Trinidad Drilling. With a strong background in the design and management of various QHSE programs, Ms. Rocha is focused on proactive and measurable QHSE performance and solutions.
Safety & Operations Superintendent
Mr. Hoffman came to Citadel Drilling in May of 2014 as a rig manager for rig 1 – “The Titan”. He has over 25 years experience in the oil and gas industry, with over a decade in senior leadership roles. Prior to starting with Citadel he was a field superintendent for Nabors Drilling. Mr. Hoffman accepted the role of Safety & Operations Superintendent in 2019.
Safety & Operations Superintendent
Mr. Wagemakers came to Citadel drilling September of 2014 as a rig manager on Rig 3-Olympus. With over 25 years of experience in the drilling industry and 10 of those in a managerial position, he was promoted to Safety & Operations Superintendent with Citadel Drilling as of August of 2019.
Maintenance and Operations Superintendent
Mr. Combden started his career in 1994 with a small drilling contractor where the pace was fast, atmosphere warm and great opportunities existed. Prior to joining the Citadel team in 2014, he was a Drilling Superintendent for Nabors Canada where his area of expertise was multi-well pads with walking AC and DC Rigs. Mr. Combden's position with the company has been diversified between construction, maintenance and rig managing across the fleet. In May of 2019, Mr. Comden was promoted to Maintenance and Operations Superintendent.
Electrical Superintendent
Mr. Frank joined Citadel Drilling in October 2020, and brings over 22 years experience in the oil and gas industry, primarily in the rig manufacturing and service fields. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Frank held various positions at Nabors Canada, Canrig Drilling Technology and ARP automation. While at ARP, Mr. Frank was a key member in the design, development and implementation of the Citadel control system.
