Citadel’s Board of Directors
Citadel Drilling Ltd’s Board of Directors exercises overall responsibility for the management and supervision of the affairs of the Company.
Paul Beitel joined ARC Financial Corp in 1998 and is currently a Managing Director and co-lead of the portfolio management team. With $5.3 billion of committed capital, ARC is the largest private equity firm focused exclusively on energy in Canada. Paul joined ARC in 1998, following 10 years of industry experience in engineering roles at a senior Canadian oil and gas company. Paul represents ARC as Chairman of the board of Huron Resources Corp., and is a Director on the boards of Citadel Drilling Ltd. and Unconventional Resources. He holds an MBA from the University of Calgary and a BSc in Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
Douglas Freel (Chairman)
As Senior Vice-President and Director at ARC Financial Corporation Mr. Freel is focused on the oilfield services segment of ARC’s oil and gas investments. He holds a BSc in Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA from the University of Toronto and is currently the Chairman of STEP Energy Services and a director of Tesla Exploration. In addition, Mr. Freel sits as the Chairman of the Board for the Impact Society.
Mr. Gackle is a Vice-President at ARC Financial Corporation focused on the oilfield services segment of ARC’s oil and gas investments. His 10 years of experience in the oil and gas investment industry has been focused on the structuring and execution of new investment opportunities in the oilfield service area. Credentials include a B.Comm in Finance from the University of Calgary and he is a CFA Charterholder. Mr. Gackle is also on the board of directors of STEP Energy Services.
Dan Hoffarth (CEO)
Dan has come up through the ranks starting his career as a Roughneck and working through all positions in a drilling contractor environment. Pre-Citadel, Dan was VP Marketing for Nabors Drilling. Experienced in start-up, mid-size and large company environments in domestic and international roles, Dan brings to the company a depth in management, construction, sales and operational capacities. He is a founding member of Citadel Drilling with over 22 years of experience in the drilling and service sector of the industry.
Mr. Todd has over 33 years of oil and gas experience with Royal Dutch Shell/Shell Canada in Canada and the US with diverse senior management experience ranging from play development, drilling and completions, land, regulatory and operations. His most recent positions at Shell included VP Production for all US onshore assets and VP Unconventional Canada. Mr. Todd has a record of delivering results, improving performance, and implementing systems and processes. He is a founder of Aspenleaf Energy Ltd where he serves as VP Operations and has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
For more than 37 years, Mr. Wagemakers has been a prominent fixture in the Canadian oil and gas drilling sector. During this lifetime of service he has held the positions of VP Marketing with Nabors Drilling, a division of Nabors Canada, and VP Operations with Command Drilling. In addition, Mr. Wagemakers was the President of Partner Rentals and has also held a variety of management positions with several pre-eminent drilling companies.
COREY ZAHN (CFO)
Corey is a founding member of Citadel Drilling and brings a wealth of experience formulating and executing on financial and operating strategies. Corey has been VP Finance and CFO of seven public and private oil and gas service companies, most recently Palko Environmental and Century Frac Services. Mr. Zahn also spent 9 years with KPMG LLP as a senior manager; a role that afforded him a broad range of experience in corporate finance, tax and accounting activities.
